Chinese herbs have been used for thousands of years and can treat a wide variety of complex health concerns. Chinese herbal medicine is a valuable modality and can be used as a stand-alone treatment strategy. However, the treatment goal for most clients is to eventually move from a combination of treatments using herbal medicine, acupuncture and dietary/lifestyle changes towards a maintenance schedule of acupuncture treatments.
There are times when your practitioner may think that adding herbal formulas or herbal tea will assist with your body’s healing processes. If appropriately incorporated into your individual treatment regime, herbal formulas can quicken up your healing responses by bringing your body back to balance sooner therefore saving you precious time and money and putting you on the path to inner balance.
Our practitioners are trained to know about possible interactions between herbal medicines and pharmaceuticals and medical diagnoses. Please ensure that you let your practitioner know if you are taking any medications and/or supplements and complete the intake form to the best of your knowledge.
At your regular appointment, it is important that we review your herbal prescription, as over time it may need adjusting. Changing your herbs is positive as it reflects that you are responding to treatment as you make your way to inner balance.
If you are prescribed herbs they can be given to you raw for you to cook and decoct at home or already decocted for you. There is also the choice of having a granulated herbal formula or if it’s more convenient capsules and/or pills will be provided to you.
At our clinic we do not endorse or use any endangered species or parts thereof.
Vegetarians and vegans can be easily accommodated. Most granulated herbs are made using a base of cornstarch or maize.
